Philippine is the ‘hottest destination’ in Denmark
The Department of Tourism reported more than 18,000 Danish nationals visited the country in 2017, which is 2.19% more than the 2016 report. “The word is spreading and more is coming,” says Denmark Ambassador Jan Top Christensen, noting that international tourism magazines have featured the Philippines as the hottest destination to visit. “Danish have been going to Thailand for decades, so they want something else, and they get something else in the Philippines.”
As proposed by the Build, Build, Build Program, more infrastructures, hotels, and airports are planned to be constructed from 2017-2022. Christensen says this progress could also be a preparation to welcome more foreign tourists in the Philippines.
The Ambassador also expresses his support for the massive rehabilitation in Boracay saying that tourists stay away when they see garbage and sewage in the sea. “But the good news is that it’s possible to do something.”
